ABEGWEIT LINKS

A Links-Style Golf Course Proposal in Borden-Carleton, Prince Edward Island

Draft Concept Plan

About Abegweit Links

Abegweit Links is a traditional British-isles style golf course proposed for the Confederation Bridge Fabrication yard in Borden-Carleton.Island artist, golfer, salvager and visionary Kris Taylor has developed a design and business plan to convert the property that has been abandoned and neglected for 26 years into a world-class golf destination. This would be the first new golf course on Prince Edward Island in over 20 years.A public meeting was held at the Borden-Carleton Legion on September 28, 2023, with over 100 in attendance. The feedback from this meeting was positive, with many community residents asking what they could do to support the project. The next step is to await the request for proposal (RFP) process from the Government of Prince Edward Island (through Innovation PEI). Mr. Taylor hopes to submit his proposal to purchase the land from the government and begin developing the property into the future Abegweit Links.Kris Taylor's vision is to provide a truly unique golfing experience that incorporates the history of the site and the remaining salvageable pieces into a traditional links golf layout overlooking the Northumberland Straight and Confederation Bridge.

Support The Project

For the Abegweit Links to be successful, we need your help in spreading the word!Abegweit Links will be a golf course proposal submitted to the Government of PEI's upcoming request for proposals (RFP) for the future use of the former Confederation Bridge fabrication yard. The province (through Innovation PEI) currently owns the fabrication yard and has committed to an RFP process that will take place in the coming weeks. They will decide on the successful proposal and the future of the fabrication yard after all proposals are submitted. The criteria for selection and schedule of the RFP process have not been released yet.Innovation PEI is working on their own “in-house” proposal for the fabrication yard, which will compete with other submitted proposals for the use of the yard.To the best of our knowledge, this proposal will involve returning infrastructure into the yard and selling lots to industry. The details of this industrial park proposal will be released in the coming weeks at a public meeting (date to be determined). It is our hope to garner as much support for Abegweit Links as possible as the RFP process and deadline approaches. If you want to see the Abegweit Links come to life, please show us your support.
